One part of the wedding I haven’t found very fun is the dress hunting bit.
I’m a very indecisive person and change my mind quite easily. I may like something one minute and then completely hate it the next – yes I’m an utter nightmare.
I’ve tried on about 40 dresses in different stores. I have had some lovely experiences and some awful ones. I always anticipated wedding dress shopping to be a fun and memorable experience, where the bride and her mother are offered champagne and chocolates ( this didn’t happen, other than one little brand new shop who were just starting out and gave us champagne) and treated like VIP’s, sadly ctually found quite a lot of the shops rude and unhelpful.
One of the places we had a great experience at was the The Bridal Factory outlet at Northallerton in North Yorkshire.
They were really easy to find and have a large factory unit with literally hundreds of wedding dresses, prom dresses, bridesmaid dresses, mother of the bride outfits and accessories – all at hugely discounted prices.
You don’t need to make an appointment when you go which is really handy and rather rare for wedding dress shops. We didn’t and were welcomed inside and told to look round and see if we wanted to try anything on.
There were three ladies in the store and as soon as a member of staff became free she came over and started recommending dresses and helping me try them on. There are large mirrors for all sides which you can see yourself well in. My Mam was given a seat outside the changing rooms and I was encouraged to go out and show her everything.
I would recommend the store to brides to be, purely because of the helpfulness of the staff and the support the gave. The cheap dresses also help! The dresses I looked at ranged from about £200 to £1000, so they cater for everyones budgets.
The opening times of the store are Wednesday to Saturday, 10am to 5pm, and Sunday 11am to 4pm.
