My Shabby Chic Dream. The story so far ….

My Shabby Chic Dream. The story so far ….

If you hadn’t realised from my blog I am a massive fan of all things shabby chic and floral. I also like to make things and when I have the time, making new from old.

My other half and I recently bought our first home after renting for far too long. The house does need quite a bit of work, and as we get married VERY soon, we havent had the time or the money to do too much.

I have managed to make our bedroom pretty and girly though, much to my hubby to be’s horror.

Here’s the story so far ….

The walls are painted in Dulux matt First Dawn.

Dulux First Dawn

Ikea Leirvik bed frame – £105

I love this bed. It’s so pretty and girly, and I think it was a bargain. We only needed to buy the frame as our previous bed was an Ikea bed so we already had the mattress.

B & Q light – £39.98

This light is so bright. It looks old and worn and is exactly what I wanted. It fits in perfectly.

Although they’re only £3 each, I got both of mine for 75p from the Bargain Corner at Ikea – the reason? .. they didn’t come with screws.
I trimmed the shelf itself, which is also from Ikea with floral Washi tape that I purchased for about 99p on Ebay. I love the stuff. You can do so much with it, from trimming shelves like this to making cards, and its so easy to use.

The start of my photo wall. I bought the frames from various charity shops – they’re all wooden. It probably cost me around £4 for all 6. I then painted them with Annie Sloan (watch out for another review on this lovely stuff coming soon) paint in Old White and Louis Blue and wax and sanded them for a shabby chic vintage effect. I just need some prints to fill them with.

The amazing world of Annie Sloan

My wardrobe is solid pine and was purchased on Ebay for the fantastic price of £25. Again I painted it in Annie Sloan Old White and waxed and sanded them.

I picked this little beauty up from Tu at Sainsburys for £4. I love it. It sits nicely on the wardrobe knob, and annoys my other half every time he opens the door. I love it though. It looks so cute and pretty. Its made from metal and the flowers are so intricate.

The gorgeous shabby edges on the wardrobe that I did.

Another Ikea purchase. I’ve actually had this around 6 years. I’m not sure whether they still stock it but it’s gorgeous.

It’s really heavy and I have it stood against the wall. I wish we had more space because I think a mannequin in white metal would look great stood next to it.

I adore these lamps. They were exactly what I was looking for and couldnt find anywhere. I scoured the internet and every website I could find and then by chance came across them while doing our food shopping. They go perfectly in our room and they’re so cute.

Floral bedside lamps from Asda – £12

The white wooden hearts were picked up from The Range whilst I was looking for wedding related goodies. I have one set hung on each side of the bed, now although they look pretty the make so much noise when you turn over during the night.

Some more shabby edges and a little bit of our cool bedroom floor, which we bought at B & Q. it’s laminate flooring that looks like white washed floorboards. It looks great .. until you get close, unfortunately it isn’t great quality and it started to peel a little at the edges. It wasn’t cheap so it’s quite annoying.
Some gorgeous little tealight holders – there’s one at the end of each curtain pole. I got these off one of my lovely friend at Christmas

Another little corner containing my wicker bin picked up at The Range for £2.99.

This is our room so far. I’m not finished but it’s well on its way!
