HelloHome StarBright Toddler Bed

HelloHome StarBright Toddler Bed

We’ve been thinking about moving the little man from cot to toddler bed for a little while but didn’t really know what kind of bed would be most suitable. We wanted to make the transition from cot to bed as stress free and fun as possible for him so when we were very kindly given the opportunity to try the HelloHome StarBright toddler bed from Worlds Apart we jumped at the chance. With it’s pretty cloud design, moon nightlight with starlight projection and side safety rails it’s everything you need in a toddler bed.

The bed is pretty easy to put together. The parts come in two separate boxes which to me implied it would be complicated. Thankfully it wasn’t. The instructions suggested it would take two people an hour to erect which was probably about right, though I did more supervising than constructing! The instructions are simple to follow and give plenty of detail. Hubby and I managed to put it together quickly and easily without any confusion or domestics and no bits left over!

The HelloHome StarBright Toddler Bed comes without a mattress but a standard size (140cm x 69cm) cot bed mattress fits perfectly. We were lucky as the little man was in a cot bed prior to the toddler bed so we just transferred the mattress over without any issue. The bed has foot plate at the which hold the mattress in place reducing any slipping or movement during the night.

I was very pleasantly surprised by both the quality and the sturdiness of the bed. It has solid wooden legs and the base is MDF. It feels very robust and there’s no wobble as there sometimes is with some flat pack furniture.

Fab features

The bed is very low to the ground which means little people can get in and out independently. It also means should they fall out of the bed they are less likely to be injured.

The bed is very sturdy and long lasting. It’s even strong enough for a big person to sit on.

The protective sides prevent tumbles and little people rolling out.

The design is unisex and really cute.

The bed has a built in side table which can be used as a place to stand a drink, a teddy or even Daddy’s bum! The side table is sturdy enough to be used as a seat for a parent whose child prefers you to hang around until they go to sleep.

The addition of the night light is fantastic. It projects stars onto the ceiling for 15 minutes as well as giving off a reassuring glow before automatically shutting itself off.

The little man is rather taken with the bed. He loves to climb on it during the day and has a slight obsession with sitting on the side table and swinging his legs. The side table can be moved to either side of the bed which means it will fit in your room regardless of the layout.

The nightlight doesn’t show to much during the lighter nights but I imagine it will be great on darker nights. The little man will happily lie in bed and watch the flickering above. I think it would have been great if the bed also had some kind of music or sound as well as the light, it would make the perfect combination for a relaxing bed time.

The transition from cot to bed hasn’t been too bad. The little man will go to sleep in his big boy bed without issue but if he wakes up he will either cry until we go and get him out, or shimmy out and explore his bedroom. I think it may take a while until he’s completely settled in his new bed but there’s plenty of time and he’s still relative young to be in a toddler bed.

The little man is a wriggler. He always has been so it’s inevitable he’ll end up in some strange position or six during the night. Although the bed is very low to the ground I have been a little concerned he’d fall and hit himself on the ledge around the bed before hitting the floor. To try and remedy this I’ve been strategically placing pillows round the edge of the bed on the floor, though so far he’s had no falls.

I do think the sides on the bed could be a little higher. The safety sides around the head area are a great idea but they’re quite low and as the little man likes to fling himself around the bed, he has had a couple of knocks and bumps.

Overall I’m really impressed with the HelloHome StarBright Toddler Bed. The design is really sweet and perfect for both girls and boys and the colour is really neutral and will fit with any decor. I love the addition of the nightlight, it’s a unique idea and means it’s always in reach.

The HelloHome StarBright Toddler Bed retails at £139.99 without mattress which I think is good value considering the bed can be used right up to 5 year.

We were sent the bed in return for an honest review.

I love the look of this, i have been thinking of moving my two year old from a cot to a toddler bed and this would be perfect for her. I love the fact it has a little bedside table and a night light and that it has rails so that little ones can not fall out. x
