Stylish cover ups for Summer nights

Isn’t the British Summer a strange time of the year? It makes choosing clothes an absolute nightmare.

The days have been filled with blistering heat and summer showers whilst the nights have been chilly with extra layers being an inevitable accessory.

A great alternative to the jacket is a cape or poncho. They’ve both been in and out of fashion over the years, but they’re well and truly back at the moment and they’re a great addition to any outfit. Initially inspired by South American indians, the blanket like garment is a key piece for layering and luxury. Both are comfortable, cosy and completely effortless to wear.

They look great over a casual outfit such as jeans and a white tee, but equally as good over a smarter evening dress. Edinburgh based, Duned in Cashmere have a beautiful range of capes and poncho’s which are perfect for keeping the chill off bare shoulders during this unpredictable Summer.

Keep your outfit simple and stick to one colour, then add a cape or poncho in a bright and funky design to finish off the look.

I thought I’d share some of my favourite deigns and prints with you.

I love the bold and beautiful Tartan prints, especially the pink and purple design but my favourite one has to be the olive green military style cape. It’s elegant and something that won’t age. I’d dress it down with jeans and brown boots for a more casual laid back look.

The cape or poncho can be flattering for any shape. If you’re or larger build, opt for a lighweight, floaty style in a longer length, or if you’re slimmer, choose a short poncho to give emphasis to a small waist and hips.

Hi love the colours they use and the shorter styles would suit me perfectly as i’m bottom heavy! Perfect for a summer BBQ when it gets a bit chillier later on!
