5 Places to Meet Santa in the North East

When Santa isn’t making toys with the elves he partakes in a little bit of travel around the North East. He likes to stop off around the North East in and sprinkle some magic in various Grotto’s around the region.

From now until Christmas Eve, kids (accompanied by adults) can see Santa at a range of locations and tell him what’s on their Christmas list this year.

All of the grotto’s are easily reached by Stagecoach which means even if you don’t have access to a car, Santa is only a short bus ride away.

Here are some great Santa spots for you to visit over the festive period : –

Beamish Museum, Durham

Santa will be at Beamish Museum every day between 10am to 4pm from 19th November to 24th December. Santa at Beamish was lovely last year. His grotto has a cosy with a fire inside and right next to the grotto you can meet and feed his friendly reindeer. A visit to Santa costs an additional £4 on top of your entry fee to the museum and all children will receive a small gift.

Intu Metro Centre, Gateshead

Gateshead NE11 9YG

Santa will be at Intu Metro Centre from Saturday 12 November until Saturday 24 December in his grotto in the Qube. Booking isn’t required and each child who visits Santa (aged over 18 months) will receive a free Playmobil gift.

Fenwick, Newcastle

39 Northumberland St, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE1 7AS

I have amazing memories of visiting Santa at Fenwicks when I was a child. Santa was always amazing and I remember a wonderful Christmas day out each year with my Mam and Nana.

Santa will be visiting the Fenwick store in Newcastle from 27 November until 23 December and ALL visits to see Santa must be booked online. The initial bookings are now full but cancellations are being released so if you haven’t been lucky so far, make sure you keep an eye out on the bookings page for cancellation slots that have been relisted.

The National Glass Centre, Sunderland

Liberty Way, Sunderland, SR6 0GL

The National Glass Centre will have the big man visiting on Saturday the 6th and Saturday 20th of December. Children will be able to visit between 11am and 2pm with no booking in advance required. It costs £2 and each child who visits will receive a gift.

Wellington Square Shopping Centre, Stockton

21 Wellington St, Stockton-on-Tees TS18 1NA

Santa will be visiting Wellington Square Shopping Centre in Stockton every Saturday between 26th November and 17th December. Entry to see Santa is free and there is no need to book. Visitors who snap a selfie with Santa in his Grotto are in with a chance of winning £1,000 in conjunction with TFM radio.

Regardless of where you live in the North East, Santa won’t be far away!
