My Christmas wish list

There are a few things I’d like to see in my stocking this year, though I’m more likely to buy them myself after Christmas!

Canon 70D
I’d really like to upgrade my camera this year as my DLSR is quite basic. I want something like the Canon 70D which would take better pictures of my little monster who never sits still!

Cath Kidston Provence diary
I had a similar one last year and I loved it. I’m a bit of a stationery snob and my diary has to be just right. The page thickness in the Cath Kidston diaries are perfect and I love the week to view layout.

UGG Sutter boots
I love these! They look so cosy and comfortable. I think they’d be perfect for the colder weather and keep my feet toasty warm.

Jo Malone Vanilla & Anise cologne
I think I actually need this. I’m a little obsessed with Pomegranate Noir at the moment but I recently saw this on the website and it sounds amazing. I love anything scented with vanilla.

Stone Roses tickets
I’m a little bit devastated I didn’t get tickets for the Stone Roses in June 2016. I didn’t even try as my work holidays hasn’t been confirmed when they were released. I’d love Santa to bring me some!

Couples night in gift box from Cara Bella

When you have children I think it’s extremely hard to keep your relationship fun and exciting. The things you used to do as a couple are easy pushed aside and forgotten, or at least they are in our house.

Hubby and I regularly used to go out for drinks, meals or little adventures before the little man was born, but we no longer have the time, the childcare or the energy to do the things we used too.
Valentines Day is another of of those things we ‘used to do’. We’ve made no plans this year as we have no one to look after the little man. So when Carabella gifts asked if I’d like to take a closer look at their couples night in gift box I was just a little bit excited! It sounded like a perfect way to celebrate Valetines Day with hubby without actually leaving the house.

Cara Bella sell unique gift boxes suitable for every occasion, ranging from wine tasting boxes to student survival boxes.

Cara Bella gift box
The gift box is beautifully packaged in an elegant black box and tied with ribbon and the contents are nestled safely beneath a layer of shredded paper.
Cara Bella gift box
The gift box is full of items which can help make a night in, a wonderful night in! The gift boxwould make a great wedding gift or even more so as a gift for new parents. It’s a thoughtful gift for those who may find it difficult to get out or away for the night with their loved one.
The box contains two glass tubes of wine – Château Saint Roch Côtes du Rhône 2012 French Red and Château de Taillan ‘La Dame Blanche’ Bordeaux Blanc 2012 White. I love the glass tube idea, it’s much easier for posting than a standard wine bottle. The tubes do only contain 100ml of wine though, which is slightly less that a small glass of wine, but it’s enough for a drink for two.
Next up are two chocolate bars – Toffee Trilogy and Lovely Fruity Nutty Crunch from the Grown Up Chocolate Bar Company. Each bar is divided into two, so they’re ideal for sharing with someone special.

The Toffee Trilogy is absolutely divine. It tastes a little like a super posh Toffee Crisp bar and I may or may not have eaten all of it before my hubby even got a chance to sniff it. Both chocolate bars are high quality and taste delicious, I’ll definitely keep an eye out for The Grown Up Chocolate Bar Company in future, I’d love to try some more of their flavours.

The gift box also contains two products from Lola’s Apothecary – pure essential body oil and the Lavender and Chamomile pure essential bath oil. I love Lola’s Apothecary products. They’re so beautiful to look at and they’re also made with natural ingredients, so don’t contain unnecessary synthetic additives or nasties.

The body oil can be massaged all over body on damp skin, so the perfect excuse for a massage after a nice romantic bath. You can also use it on dry skin for intensive moisture. It has a soothing scent and is extremely moisturising without being greasy or sticky. The bath oil looks beautiful in it’s little glass bottle. The oil contains pieces of lavender and the smell is amazing, it’s a lovely addition to a steamy hot bath.

The couples night in gift box costs £35 from Cara Bella Gifts and can be ordered online. You can save 10% on your order and get free delivery on your order if you use ‘Valentine10‘.

I think the gift box is a lovely idea, particularly for couples who don’t have the luxury of being able to have a night out when they feel like it, The goodies inside the box, together, can help create a lovely night when little people have gone to sleep! The goodies ase perfect to enjoy together after a tasty home cooked meal or simply just to enjoy some time together as a couple. You don’t need to leave the house to take some time to spend as a couple and celebrate Valentines Day.

What will you be doing for Valentines Day?

Christmas Gift Guide – Baby’s first Christmas

It’s the little mans very first Christmas this year and a rather magical time for us as a family. I’m under no illusions, he won’t have a clue what’s happening, but for hubby and I it’s something we will be able to look back on and talk about for years to come.

To commemorate the little man’s first Christmas, we’ve bought various keepsakes and started some new traditions (more about those in another post).

There are so many beautiful keepsake gifts you can buy as a first Christmas gift. I’ve put together a selection of some of my favourites, with an added advantage of each costing less than £10!

Hand painted bauble – £5.21 / Snow Globe – £7.95 / First Christmas photo frame – £9.50 / First Christmas musical book – £9.99 / First Christmas bib – £4.00 / First Christmas romper suit – £9.95

How do you send yours?

I’m not very organised this Christmas. I usually have everything bought, wrapped and delivered or posted by now. This year I am officially rubbish! I have some presents, all unwrapped and I’m starting to panic that the deadlines for posting and delivering in time for Christmas are swiftly approaching.

If I’m honest I very rarely use Royal Mail to send things now. I’ve had so many issues with lost packages and ridiculously high prices that I now tend to compare prices with a range of courier companies and go with the most reasonably priced.

I find using a company like this much more trouble free and simple. The package can be picked up from my house which saves me time, effort and the back breaking task of trying to carry a parcel and the little man into the post office at the same time.

I have a list of essentials when I’m sending parcels –

  • Good reviews and customer satisfaction
  • Quick and efficient delivery
  • Good prices and inexpensive insurance
  • Easy to book collection or simple local drop off
Obviously there are a massive selection of companies offering a delivery service to choose from but one that often pops on my list is TNT, who are well priced amongst their competitors and offer a stress free delivery service both nationally and internationally.

I always worry when sending gifts through the post that they may get lost or damaged so choosing a company with comprehensive insurance is a must for me. It’s reassuring to know that if anything does go wrong, neither my recipient or I would be out of pocket.

I’ve recently started sending my Ebay items in the same way. It feels much safer and they get there so quickly!

How do you send your packages?

Gift ideas from Treat Republic

It’s great when you come across a new company that offer great gifts you’ve nevber seen before.  I was recently introduced to the world of Treat Republic, a company offering personalised and bespoke gifts which are perfect for Christmas gifts and if you’ve read my blog before you’ll know I LOVE personalised goodies.

They offer a wide selection of unusual and gorgeous gifts with both budgets and ideas for every kind of person you can imagine.

Here are some of my favourites –

How sweet are these heart shaped wooden egg cups. They’re simple but so sweet. I think they’d make a lovely long lasting gift for a partner, plus if you give them at Christmas time, you can whip them out again for a romantic breakfast on Valentines Day.
My Mam would absolutely love these personalised leather gloves. They’re a great idea for a gardener and much more stylish than a pair of Marigolds.
I love the personalised heart bracelet for me! I’d probably have the little man’s name engraved on it rather than my own though. It would make a lovely gift for a special friend or sister.
I think the personalised slate cheese board* would make a fantastic gift for the parents or that uncle that has everything. I was gifted a cheese board from Treat Republic to look at more closely and I have to say I’m impressed. It looks just as good in real life as it does on the website.
The slate looks great against our black tiles and bench and I love the personalised detail at the bottom. It’s strong and sturdy and looks great.
Rather than using it just for a cheese board and getting it out on rare occasions, I’ve been using it on the kitchen work top as a chopping board. It looks great and I think the personalisation at the bottom really makes it. I’m going to order one of these for my friend for Christmas, she told me how much she loved mine when she saw it recently.
I think Treat Republic have some fab gift ideas, so pop over and have a look. You’ve got plenty of time to order in time for Christmas.
