Review – Sexy Hair Products

I love hair care products, and I’m always on the hunt for the perfect product, preferably something that will give me amazing locks whilst taming my frizzy ends and fixing my split ends. I’m not asking much am I?!

SexyHair is a salon only brand.

Healthy Sexy Hair Soy Touchable Hairspray

As a rule I’m not a huge fan of hairspray. I find it dries my hair out and the majority give that awful ‘crispy’ effect. I liked the fact this one contains Argan Oil, which I find super moisturising on my hair.

I initially liked the smell of this. It doesn’t have your typical harsh, unpleasant hairspray kind of smell. It has a like, almost fruity scent which suprisingly is very faint after using.

I found this really simple to use. After backcombing the top of my hair I sprayed the underside with this and clipped it back, before adding a little more to the top. My hair lasted all day without drooping, and being the lazy tramp I am, I didn’t wash my hair before bed, I simply brushed it out and went to bed. My hair wasn’t sticky or dry, it actually looked pretty good!

Straight Sexy Hair Straightening Shampoo

I’m not a huge fan of the smell of this, it has quite a synthetic scent – I’m more of a fruity fan.

The shampoo does feel quite luxurious and works into a nice lather. My hair feels soft and manageable after use and ultra clean.

Straight Sexy Hair Straightening Conditioner

I really like the conditioner. It’s really thick and feels more like a hair mask or treatment. I’ve been using it in conjunction with the shampoo and really like the effect it has on my hair. My hair feels soft to touch and looks much more sleek and shiny.

The conditioner smells much nicer than the shampoo. It reminds me of my husbands dedorant. It’s really clean and fresh smelling.

Sexy Hair Big Sexy Hair Weather Proof Humidity Resistant

I found this wasn’t really suited to my hair. I tried it a couple of times after washing, drying and styling my hair, but found it made my hair a little sticky with a residue on it that was obvious when I touched it. I’d give this a go if I curled my hair as I think it’d probably help hold the style but for my bog standard straight hair it didn’t really work for me.

I’ve never actually seen Big Sexy Hair products in any highstreet stores but they can be bought online at BeautyBay and Hairtrader I would, without a doubt purchase the shampoo and conditioner again, as in combination they have a lovely effect on my hair.

SexyHair are online. Have a read about their products and see where your local stockist is.

Review – Lush Lovely Jubblies Breast Cream

What the company say

Beautiful almond oil, cocoa butter, jojoba oil, evening primrose oil, avocado oil and beeswax combine together to make a softening moisturising cream.
We then add orange blossom honey, fresh rose infusion, lemongrass oil, ylang ylang and jasmine absolute.

We also added tiger lilies and meadowsweet herb, because they were recommended to us many years ago by medicinal herbalist, Alan Hopking, as being firming for the tissues.
A product that is designed to make that most enticing area even more enticing. Because everybody needs a bosom for a pillow.

We made Lovely Jubblies at the request of members on our Lush Customer Forum, who told us they were using our neck cream on their breasts and wanted a bigger bottle of it. So it drove us back into the lab, to boost the neck cream and make it a little bit more man for the job.

Price and Stockists

This is available from
Lush, both in store and online.

It costs £16.50 for a
100g tub, which admittedly is quite expensive.

As with all Lush
products, the packaging, is simple and plain and can be recycled. The
tub is a screw top black pot with white text.

The cream is pale
yellow with a delicious scent. It has quite a rich, exotic smell, and
makes me think of Turkish bizarres.

This cream has amazing
reviews on the internet, and on the Lush website.

My boobs are no means
down to my knees, but e
tiger lily petals to firm and to help fight the forces of gravity.
There’s beeswax, almond, and avocado oil to soften and hydrate your
skin, and yummy-smelling flower infusions like orange blossom, rose,
jasmine, and ylang ylang.

can use this on all your “wobbly” bits, not just your
chest. It’d be for your boobs, bum hips, stomach – anywhere you want to
tighten. It can also be used on your face, though so far I’ve been
sticking to my boobs and belly.
Smells delicious
Easy to use
A little goes a long way
Only available at Lush stores
I love the smell of this and it’s make my skin feel supple and smooth, but if I’m honest I can’t seen any massive changes to how tight or firm my skin is, or maybe my skin needs more time, or a miracle!
I’ll keep using this until it’s gone and see if there are any changes, but if I don’t see any, I’m likely just to go back to using my dry skin moisturiser which makes my skin feel just as smooth, only without the pretty scent.

Ren Skincare review

I was recently sent some samples from Ren to test and review on my blog.

I am new to Ren products, having only recently come across them online.  I’ve been using these products for the last couple of weeks and some of them are impressive.
Satin Perfection BB cream  50ml | £26.00
I tried this both by itself and under my usual foundation. I will admit I found it a little difficult to gage how much I needed, using too much on each application and struggling to blend it in to my skin. My skin is pretty tanned at the moment after returning from our wedding in Cyprus and I found a little of the BB cream looks great when I can’t be bothered to apply a full face of makeup. I found less is definitely more with this cream, as it was a little drying for my skin, I had to moisturise with my usual cream before applying this, which is quite unusual as most other BB creams I’ve tried make my face quite greasy.
The cream evens out my skin tone without the need for heavy foundation and powder. I would happily use it again for a quick trip to the shops or a trip where I’m unlikely to see anyone I know, but I’m not brave enough to wear it for a night out or to impress someone, I like to be able to hide behind the slap. This is currently out of stock on the Ren website, so it must be a popular product.
Glycolactic Radiance Renewal mask  50ml | £30.00

This is my new fab find! I am in love with this mask, and have already bought a big version to carry on using. It’s made a noticeable difference to my face. After the first use, the skin on my face felt soft and smooth, a bit like a babies bum! You apply the product onto dry skin and leave for about 10 minutes, I’ve been using a muslin cloth soaked in warm water to remove it (think Liz Earl Hot Cloth Cleanser).

The mask has a pleasant citrus smell and a translucent yellowy colour, it reminds me a little of Vaseline, but much thicker and stickier.

REN Glycolactic Radiance Renewal Mask contains natural fruit acids from passion fruit, lemon, grape and pineapple which work with papain enzyme (from papaya extract) to “lift and remove dead skin cells, exfoliate, encourage cell turnover, smooth fine lines and boost radiance. For me it’s fabulous to find a product that actually does as it claims!

You can see in the picture that during use it makes your skin look quite shiny (I can’t believe I’m make up free and naked faced on the internet!). I found the first time I used it I felt a slight warm feeling on my skin, there was no burning or irritation but a slightly warming sensation. For me, that only occurred during the first use. I’ve used the product three times so far – as it’s recommended that you only use it weekly and my skin does feel and look quite radiant – listen to me blowing my own trumpet?!I’ve had no spot break outs and my skin has a healthy looking glow, a tan and some Glycolactic Radiance Renewal mask is all you need!

The product was awarded Best for Instant Brightening in Martha Stewart Weddings Big-Day
Beauty Awards 2012
: The Best in Wedding Skin Care.

No 1 Purity Cleansing balm  100ml | £23.00

Out of the four samples this was the product I liked the least. I hated the consistency of it on my skin and although my skin felt soft after I’d used it, I was put off my how it felt and looked a smelled, it resembles some kind of old fashioned burn cream that you’d maybe have made over your stove in the 1920’s, and I’m really not a fan of the smell which I found very over powering and floral. I have tried cleansing balms before from other brands and again I didn’t enjoy the experience, so really it’s not Ren’s fault – I knew I wasn’t a fan before I’d even opened the tube.

Vita –Mineral Day cream  50ml | £25.00

Now I love a good moisturiser, I suffer from quite dry skin on parts of my face and usually use Eucerin products which help quite a lot, but I’m not really very loyal to brands, constantly trying to find something better, prettier or newer.

I really liked this moisturiser, particularly the smell and thickness of the product. It felt like a high end product, and left my skin felling soft and velvety. I worked extremely well under my make up, but I did feel that I had to use quite a bit to get a good coverage over my face, so I’m not sure how cost effective it would work out for me.

I think I’m definitely a Ren convert, I’m dying to try some more of their products, particularly some of their hair care products.

*I was sent then samples in return for an honest review.

Isn’t it fab when you forget you had something and then you come across it and it turns out to be great! Here starts my story with The Garage – Wheelie Good Cleanser and Toner.

I won this product quite a while ago in a competition and never got round to trying it, my phobia of a sore dry face pops up once again. To be honest though I find as I’m getting older my skin is much less sensitive – it finally means I can enjoy trying new products without the worry that my face will fall off.

I hadn’t even heard of The Garage Spa at Greta bridge until I got this product, which is a shame as I’m from Durham so it isn’t too far away from me.

The Spa itself is next to the Morritt Hotel, near Barnard Castle in County Durham. The pictures look amazing! The Spa is likened to a garage and the website sections are broken down into vehicle related sections e.g Forecourt and Body Shop, their Spa product range are also vehicle related e.g Wheelie Good Cleanser and Soft Top Body Potion.

Anyway, as of yet I haven’t had the chance to visit the Spa (it’s on wish list’ for when I get my life back after the wedding) so I can’t tell you what the Spa itself is like but I can tell you what these two little beauties are like.

They both come in pump action dispensers which are a fab invention, though I’m sure these two were possessed, it took my ages to work out how to get the product to come out and the dispenser to dispense.

Both cost £19 each for a 250ml bottle, which I will admit is quite a lot. It nice as a treat though and if you spend a day at the Spa, using the products afterwards would bring back happy memories during future use.

The Wheelie Good Cleanser is full of natural ingredients including Teesdale honey, fig and honey.

The cleanser feels thick and luxurious and smells gorgeous. It isn’t a strong overpowering smell, but is sweet and smells good enough to eat. You can smell the vanilla.

With the cleanser I put some onto my finger tips, rubbed it onto my face using circular movements and then wipe away with a clean cotton wool pad. My skin was left feeling soft and smooth, so stickness at all. As its the run up to the wedding I am worried about getting spots, so this will be a fab addition to my beauty regime, the natural honey should help combat any spot breakouts, whilst adding much needed moisture to my dry skin.

The tone is a transparent liquid which you’ll need to dispense onto cotton wool to apply to the face.

The toner smells pleasant, there’s no chemical or alcohol smell. Again this contains honey so is fab for those of us that need to add extra moisture. Some toners can dry my skin out but this one doesnt … at all.

I’ve been using the products combined for the last four days and I’m impressed with the results to far. I’ve had no breakouts of spots ( I seem to have had loads of minor irritations and spots lately, I blame the wedding stress) and my skin feels smooth and soft, I have no dry patches round my mouth and chin, which are also quite common for me.

I’ve been using these two followed by Eucerin day or big cream, and they seem to go well together. I’ve noticed on their website they sell a Classic Glow Facial Anti Aging Oil which sounds wonderful and would probably go better with these two but at £25 it’s a little out of my price range at the moment.

Overall im really impressed with both the cleaner and the toner. I love the fact they’re from a local company and contain local products and I’m pleased by the calming affect they seem to have on my skin.
