Degustabox June 2016 review

Degustabox delivery day is my favourite day of the month. I love receiving my monthly food subscription box. It’s always jam packed with tasty goodies and at only £12.99 it works out much cheaper than the high street price. Degustabox-June-2016-contents

DSC_0758This months box contains a great selection of products that are perfect for the warmer weather, in particularly BBQ’s and al fresco dining.DSC_0763

Haywards-onionsHaywards pickled onions – £1.89

We usually buy Haywards pickled onions so I was pleased to see these in my box. The medium and silver skins are lovely sliced on top of cheese on toast or mixed in with a summer salad.Branson-relishBranston Relish – £1.65

This is the perfect addition to any summer BBQ. It’s a spicy tomato that goes amazingly well on hot dogs and burgers. It makes a great alternative to using tomato sauce.DSC_0766Heinz Amoy coconut milk – £1.99

I often add this to curries, so it’s a welcome inclusion. I’ve also seen quite a few desserts that have this as ingredient so I might use it to create something new. It’s made using ripe, fresh coconuts in Thailand and has a rich, sweet taste.

Schwartz Grill Mates – £1.49

This was so so nice. We used it to make burgers to eat outdoors, the day my Degustabox was delivered. It’s a very simple to use product but tastes amazing when added to mince.DSC_0775Zeo drink – £2.75

I wanted to love this cloudy lemon drinkbut I think it would have tasted better fizzy rather than still. It’s made using 98% spring water, with naturally extracted flesh from lemons and essential oils from the skin. It’s sweetened using Stevia, beet and sugar cane. It’s very diet friendly and each 250ml serving contains just 28 calories.DSC_0767Sacla Pesto jars – £2.79

These single serve pots are ideal for adding to pasta to make a quick meal to take to work. They’re easy to use and are made using Italian Basil, Grana Padano cheese, Pecorino cheese and pine nuts.Butterkist

This is so nice, much nicer than I expected. It’s much healthier as a treat than chocolate or sweets and comes in both sharing bags and multipacks. The little man really likes it too.Miracle-NoodlesMiracle Noodles

These are great if you’re trying to lower your carb intake. Each serving contains just 5 calories which is pretty amazing and they are gluten free. They’re a great alternative to pasta.BakedIn-brownie

BakedIn-mug-cakeBakedIn mug brownie – £1.50

I love anything like this. I’m a huge fan of mug cakes and the mug brownie is a great idea. The rich Belgian chocolate is sweet and gooey and makes a great treat for one.

Marstons King Star lager – £1.70

This was really refreshing when served icy cold. It’s a handcrafted lager that’s full of flavour and makes a delicious summer drink.Smooze

Smooze-eliSmooze fruit ices – £2.50

Without a doubt my favourite product in this months Degustbox. These freeze at home ice pops are made using natural ingredients and contain 40% coconut milk and 50% fresh fruit juice and puree. They’re free from major allergens and are 100% vegan. The little man absolutely loves them, and I have to admit, they’re delicious. At £2.50 for 5 ice pops they’re on the expensive side, but definitely worth it.DSC_0772Destrooper Olivier waffle crisps – £1.10

Belgium Butters are the best quality biscuits made in Belgium. They’re delicious dipped in coffee or with vanilla ice cream.

The recipe card in this months Degustabox features two dishes, Penne with Sacla Pesto, Pancetta & Parmesan and Amoy Thai Green Curry. I’ve got the pasta dish on my meal planner for next week and we’ll definately be trying the curry at some point too.

A subscription to Degustabox costs £12.99 per month including delivery. You can use discount code for  BLDEG15 to get a whopping £7 off your first box.
