Using a Minimum Amount of Space to Create Maximum Productivity

Collaborative Post

Trying to create the perfect work life balance is difficult. I juggle blogging with working part time, parenting and generally wanting to do nothing! I often find myself on the sofa with a laptop balanced on my knee whilst half watching something cheesy on the TV which usually means my attention is never quite focused properly on any task I’m doing. This means my content often makes no sense or I have to re-watch the same episode seven times to understand whats going on, I never seem to stick to once task, and I struggle to stick to deadlines because I’m too easily distracted.

After years of disorganisation, I’ve decided to dedicate specific time to my blog, my hobbies and binge watching utter rubbish on TV instead of trying to do everything at the same time. Now I’m getting back into the swing of things after having my second baby, I intend to give my self somewhere specific to write my blog, somewhere that I sit and work but somewhere I can also leave the laptop and finish ‘work’ for the day.

With two children and a small three bedroomed semi, space is not in abundance so I need something that can double up and solve two problems at the same time.

I have a small amount of space in our bedroom which is child free and big enough for a desk that I’d also like to double up as a dressing table. Not only will it give me space to sit and work on my laptop, I’ll be able to sit and do my hair and make up without sitting on the floor in front of a mirror.

I’ve been scouring the internet for something that meets my needs without breaking the bank and I’ve come across LionsHome which is a an online shopping portal bringing together all things home and living on one simple to use website. I’m not hugely fussy when it comes to furniture. I like light and bright colours, which are simple and easy to keep clean and tidy and I’m a big fan of white furniture as it always brightens up a room and would fit perfectly into our pale grey bedroom.

I’ve found some beautiful dressing tables on LionsHome which look perfect for my limited space and budget! Their space saver desks are the perfect size and style and are priced at well under £100. I think I’d even be able to afford a comfortable chair or stool too and maybe even spruce up our bedroom.

I hope that a new, dedicated work area will help me stay on top of blogging and mean I’m more up to date with posts and deadlines.

Do you have any top tips for staying organised and using your time more efficiently?

I use the pomodoro technique (25 minute tasks then have a break) and it works brilliantly when I really need to concentrate on things!
